Colors used in UltraTax CS

UltraTax CS uses colors to indicate the source of the data entered in a field. The following table explains the meaning of each color.

Black numbers in fields
black numbers in fields that signify direct data entry
Data you entered directly into UltraTax CS or the Source Data Entry program.
Blue numbers in fields
blue numbers in field that signify imported data
On data-entry screens, this is data that was transferred from another source, like:
  • proforma'd data
  • federal to state data
  • data imported from a different application
  • Source Data Entry
  • statement data imported from a spreadsheet.
Red italic numbers in fields or forms
red italic numbers in a field that signify an override
An amount was overridden. If it is on a form in Forms view it means it was manually entered. If it is on an input screen it means it was entered in a force field.
Red "S" in statement fields

There is data in the statement window. This is opposed to a black statement dialog button, which means there is no data entered there.
Blue chevrons in the corner of fields
blue chevrons in a field that indicates there was data in this field last year
This field had data in it last year.
Red chevrons in the corner of fields
Red chevrons in a field indicating an amount was overruled.
Amounts that were overruled but not acknowledged by a preparer or staff member.
Pink/purple lines in data entry folders and squares in input screen tabs.

There is pending data from a client organizer you need to accept and import.
Blue numbers in the

tab of the Diagnostics window
Blue numbers in the Watch tab means the value hasn't changed.
This amount was frozen on the form and hasn't changed.
Red numbers in the
Watch
tab of the Diagnostics window
Red numbers in the Watch window means the value has changed.
This amount was frozen on the form and has changed.

Green line next to drop-down fields
A green line next to a drop-down field indicates it has a custom list.
This drop-down field has a custom list.
