Organizers for clients using Filing Status Optimization

When you use the Filing Status Optimization tool, it doesn't divide Organizer data when creating new, separate 1040 returns. This means you can't enter Organizer data directly into the new client files.
Follow these steps to manage separate returns without losing any initial data.
  1. Create a copy of the original return.
    1. Select
      File
      , then
      Save As
      .
    2. Rename the client for the new file.
  2. In the new copy, manually remove the spouse's information from the return.
Organizer data entry is available if you proforma any of the married filing separate clients into next year's version of the application.
