Print Extensions dialog

Use this dialog to print a tax return extensions on paper or to create an electronic copy of the extension forms in PDF format. You can also store a copy of the client's extension forms in FileCabinet CS (if licensed), GoFileRoom (if licensed), or File Drawer.&
To open this dialog, choose File then Print Extensions.
From this dialog, you can also open other dialogs in which you can perform the following tasks.
  • To define print collations for returns and extensions, select the Tax Returns button in the Product Information dialog to open the Return Collation dialog.
  • Select the Options button in the Print Input Screens dialog to override the print collation for this one print job.
  • Select the clients for whom you want to print input screens.

Fields & buttons

Print destinations group box

Unless you are printing to the UltraTax CS Spool, this field displays the printer you selected in UltraTax CS or the default printer you have set up for Windows applications. To change the printer to which UltraTax CS prints, select the Printer button.
Select this button to open the Select Printer dialog in which you can change the default printer for UltraTax CS or choose the UltraTax CS Spool for this print job.
Use this drop-down list to choose the FileCabinet CS data location (when printing to FileCabinet CS) or the GoFileRoom drawer (when printing to GoFileRoom) where you want to store the selected documents. This field is available only if you mark the
FileCabinet CS
or
GoFileRoom
checkbox, are licensed for FileCabinet CS or GoFileRoom, and have one of the two applications installed.
This field displays the location where UltraTax CS will store extensions printed to PDF. Select the Browse button adjacent to this field to select the destination for the PDF file.
Mark this checkbox to print the extensions for the selected client(s) to paper via the printer specified in the Print destinations group box.
Mark this checkbox to create the electronic file for a client's extension. When you select the Print (or E-File) button, UltraTax CS creates the file and places it in the appropriate data location. When you select the Preview (or Check E-File) button, UltraTax CS checks for potential errors in the electronic file, but does not create it.
Mark this checkbox to store copies of the extensions in either FileCabinet CS or GoFileRoom, if licensed.
Mark this checkbox if you want to store copies of the selected documents in File Drawer. To access the copies, select the
Drawer
button in the folders block of an open client in UltraTax CS.
Mark this checkbox to deliver the extension electronically as an eSignature document or a PDF file.&
Mark this checkbox to print the extensions for the selected client(s) to a PDF file that UltraTax CS will store in the location specified in the Print destinations group box.
This checkbox, marked by default, enables you to choose whether or not a password will be required to open the PDF version of the extension. We recommend that your firm uses passwords whenever you send returns or extensions to your clients via an email message. Creating unprotected PDF versions of these documents is intended for your firm's internal use only.
Mark the checkbox if you want to update the client's status when you print. Use the drop-down list to select the status event that you want to log when the client is printed.
To specify the number of copies you want to print, enter a number (up to 9) in this field or use the arrows to increase or decrease the number.
By default, UltraTax CS prints the items based on the collation set in the Return Collation dialog. Select this button to open the Print Options dialog, which you can use to select different items to print for the open client.
Select this button to open the Select Clients to Print dialog, in which you can choose the clients whose extensions you want to print. By default, UltraTax CS will print the open client's extension.
Select this button to preview the selected extension before printing. If you marked the
Create electronic file
checkbox only, this button is called Check E-File and will cause UltraTax CS to check for potential errors in the electronic file, but will not create it.
