Error: Electronic signature documents are suppressed on screen eSign
Scenario
You may get the following error message when assembling and transmitting eSignature documents with the tax return.
Error message
Electronic signature document(s) are suppressed on Screen eSign (eSignature).
Cause
- Form 8879 has already been signed. Form 8879 can be e-signed one time. After Form 8879 has been successfully e-signed, you can't transmit an eSignature document package containing Form 8879.
- The eSignature forms were suppressed.
Solution
If Form 8879 has already been signed, you can still send document packages for other forms to be e-signed. To suppress Form 8879 from the e-signature package, mark the
Form 8879, IRS e-file Signature Authorization
checkbox on the eSign
screen in the Electronic Filing folder.To turn suppression on or off for eSignature documents, go to the
eSign
screen in the Electronic Filing folder of the input screens.
