Migrate Fixed Assets CS data to Virtual Office CS or SaaS
Follow these steps to move Fixed Assets CS data from a local or network drive to Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service (SaaS). Then, set up the Virtual Office CS or SaaS installation of Fixed Assets CS.
Part 1: Back up data from your local installation of Fixed Assets CS
Create a folder on your local hard drive named
FAbackups
.
Double-click
My Computer
on your desktop.
Double-click the
C:\
drive.
Select
File
,
New
, then
Folder
.
Name the folder
FAbackups
.
note
If you use multiple data locations, you should create a separate backup folder for each location.
Open your local installation of Fixed Assets CS.
Back up Fixed Assets CS client data to the
C:\FAbackups
folder.
Select
File
, then
Backup
.
Make sure
Clients
is selected in the 1st field of the Backup window.
Double-click 1 or more clients to move them to the Selected pane, or use
Select All
.
note
The open client (if any) is listed in the Selected pane.
Select
Modify Backup Location
, go to
C:\FAbackups
, and select
OK
.
Select
Backup
.
If you use multiple data locations, sign in to each location and repeat steps 2 and 3. Make sure to select the correct backup location in step 3d.
Back up Fixed Assets CS custom methods of depreciation.
Select
File
, then
Backup
.
Select
Custom Methods
from the 1st field in the Backup window.
Use
Select All
to move the custom methods of depreciation to the Selected pane.
Make sure that
C:\FAbackups
displays in the
Backup location
field.
Select
Backup
.
Back up Fixed Assets CS custom reports.
Select
File
, then
Backup
.
Select
Custom Reports
from the 1st field in the Backup window.
Use
Select All
to move the custom reports to the Selected pane.
Make sure that
C:\FAbackups
displays in the
Backup location
field.
Select
Backup
.
Close the local installation of Fixed Assets CS.
Part 2: Restore data into the Virtual Office CS or SaaS installation of Fixed Assets CS.
Select
Applications
in the NetStaff CS tab of the navigation pane.

If
Applications
isn't available, you don't have access to applications through Virtual Office CS or SaaS.
In the Virtual Office CS screen, select
Fixed Assets CS
to open the application.
If you need to set up multiple data locations, contact CS Web Services Support. Call 800.968.0600 and follow the prompts.

Restore client data.
Select
File

In the
Clients Not Found
window, select
Change Backup Location
and go to the
FAbackups
folder on your local C:\ drive.

In the Virtual Office CS or SaaS environment,
C$ on Client (V:)
is your local C:\ drive.
Make sure that
Clients
is selected in the 1st field of the Restore window.
Use
Select All
to move all client data to the Selected pane.

Restore custom methods of depreciation.

to move the custom methods to the Selected pane.
Make sure that
V:\FAbackups
displays in the
Backup location
field.

to move the custom reports to the Selected pane.

If you use multiple data locations, repeat this procedure for each data location.
Part 3: Set up the Virtual Office CS or SaaS installation of Fixed Assets CS
Select
Setup
, then
System Configuration
. Make any necessary changes to the application setup.
Have each Fixed Assets CS user go to
Setup
, then
User Preferences
and verify their user preferences.
You're now ready to work in Fixed Assets CS in the Virtual Office CS or SaaS environment.
