Set up your firm and staff

Set preferences for your firm

As a firm administrator or approved staff member, you can set firm-wide preferences in
Setup
Firm Information
Firm
Preferences
 tab.

Firm security

To use Workpapers or to turn on Accounting CS Client Access clients, you'll need to turn on firm security.
  1. Mark
    Enable firm security
     to require passwords and set staff user rights.
  2. Mark
    Remember login information
     to let staff save sign-in information on their computers.
  3. Restart the application to access all security screens.

Data entry confirmation

  1. Select Options in the Data Entry Confirmation section.
  2. Mark the checkboxes to set which fields need confirmation during data entry.
  3. Select
    OK
    .

Employee requirements

  • Mark
    Require Hire data
     to require entry of hire dates for new employee records.
  • Mark
    Prompt when EIN/SSN is blank or "Applied For"
     to get warnings for missing Employer ID or Social Security numbers.

Event tracking

Mark
Disable event tracking
 to turn off event logging.

Transaction entry

Select
Bank Account
 or
Journal
 as the default transaction entry method.

Data sharing

  • Mark
    Enable data sharing
     to show the Sync Data sharing button in the toolbar and turn on data sharing.
  • Mark
    Synchronizing pending updates upon opening the application
     to start automatic data sharing updates.

Payroll tax liabilities

Mark
Adjust due date for non-banking days to use previous banking day
 if the due date for payroll tax liabilities falls on a weekend or holiday.

Payroll tax forms

Select options to customize payroll tax form handling.

Practice CS

Mark
Automatically export finalized invoices
 to export all invoices with the
Create fee as final
 checkbox marked.

FileCabinet CS

Select options to organize FileCabinet CS documents and turn off check watermarks.

Workpapers

  • Select Options to change the arrangement of source documents in Workpapers.
  • Mark
    Open PDF workpapers in a native PDF application
     to open PDFs in a different application like Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
