Add state and local information to Form W-2 Box 14

Follow these steps to enter state and local information to display in Box 14 of Form W-2.

Report SUI in Box 14

Alaska, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania require that employee unemployment insurance (SUI) contributions go to the state unemployment fund.
  • For New Jersey, this information is automatically included in the W-2 form.
  • For Alaska and Pennsylvania, you'll need to report the employee SUI contributions manually in Box 14 of Form W-2.
Follow these steps to set up Accounting CS to automatically enter the employee mandatory contributions in Box 14 of Form W-2.
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Clients
    .
  2. Select the
    Payroll Taxes
     tab, then
    Edit
    .
  3. Go to the state in the Taxes section. Enter a description in the Box 14 column for the state SUI item. For example, enter
    PA SUI
     for Pennsylvania.
  4. Select
    Enter
     to save the client record.
Accounting CS will print each employee's year-to-date SUI amount in Box 14 of their Form W-2 using the description you entered.

Display Pennsylvania LST amounts in Box 14

By default, Accounting CS doesn't include Pennsylvania LST tax in the local section of Form W-2.
Follow these steps to include Pennsylvania LST tax on Form W-2.
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Clients
    .
  2. Select the
    Payroll Taxes
     tab.
  3. In the Taxes section, find a line item for local LST tax.
  4. Enter a description in the Box 14 column. For example, enter
    PA LST
The description you entered and the amounts will display on Form W-2.

Display New York FLI or SDI amounts in Box 14

By default, Accounting CS doesn't include New York FLI or SDI amounts on Form W-2.
Follow these steps to include New York FLI or SDI amounts on Form W-2.
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Clients
    .
  2. Select the
    Payroll Taxes
     tab.
  3. In the Taxes section, find a line item for New York FLI or SDI tax.
  4. Enter a description in the Box 14 column. For example, enter
    NY FLI
     or
    NY SDI
    .
The description you entered and the amounts will display on Form W-2.
